UNA-USA, 'Adopt-A-Minefield' Fundraising Campaign
With Ms. Heather Mills and Sir Paul McCartney as Goodwill Ambassadors to the campaign, it's parent organization the United Nations Association of the United States of America (NGO), various partnerships, and everyday donors, this campaign raised nearly $10 million in it's first few years. Its growth spurred additional country offices and support.
In June 2001, Adopt-A-Minefield™ held its first annual fundraising benefit dinner at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, CA. A black-tie, red carpet affair, attended by many A-list celebrities and goodwill ambassadors, and with Mr. Jay Leno as the MC, not to mention as entertainment were Sir Paul McCartney and Mr. Paul Simon — the event was a success. Fun too.
